Dr. Elizabeth Boyd grew up on a small ranch outside Gunnison, Colorado. She completed a dual bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University before completing veterinary school at CSU. After graduation, Dr. Boyd is excited to be back on the western slope! Dr. Boyd loves all animals, but she has a passion for large animal medicine and surgery, with specific interests in equine lameness and sports medicine, large animal neonatal medicine, and camelid and small ruminant medicine.
She has one dog and two horses at home. In her free time, she enjoys riding her horse Lefty. Her other hobbies include hiking, kayaking, paddle-boarding, and reading.

Pets: Her furry kids include her Maltese mix, Bailey, and her troublemaking Boston terrier mix, Henry.
Dr. Ellen Kim was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado. She later moved to California where she completed her bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. She completed her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and trying out new hobbies.

Pets: Dr. Hafer has two amazing pets- Dusk, a Himalayan cat, and Penny, a Miniature Dachshund.
Dr. Hafer grew up in Colorado Springs, and received two undergraduate degrees at Colorado State University (Zoology, and Biology with a concentration in Genetics, Systematics, and Taxonomy). After completing veterinary school at Kansas State University, she is excited to be back in Colorado. She had a background in general practice, but also was an Emergency Veterinarian for two years prior to joining Amigo Animal Clinic. Her interests include emergency medicine, surgery, behavior, and exotics.
Her hobbies include agility, mountain biking, paddle boarding, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, and various crafts. And anywhere that she can bring Dusk and Penny with her, she does!

Dr. Shaffer Sookram joined our Amigo family in June of 2016.
She enjoys the constant adaptation and challenges provided by her job and the fact that she will never have the same day twice.
Her hobbies and interests include hiking, camping, reading and Taekwondo.

Pets: Dr. Bridge has a zoo of her own at home, between her six cats (who are all named after Top Gun characters), two geriatric horses, and a dog. She is hoping to add more to the family!
Dr. Jessica Bridge is a Grand Junction local and studied at CSU in Fort Collins for school. She has always loved working with animals and developed an interest in medicine, and on top of that, her love for public health and food safety lead her to become a veterinarian. She is very interested in the cow business, and is excited to offer that type of practice to our clientele.
When Dr. Bridge isn’t busy at work she is enjoying her time with her children. Her other interests include hiking, camping, gardening, sewing and shootin’!
Dr. Peter Maguire, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Master’s degree in Clinical Veterinary Science, diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, and New Zealand Registered Specialist, is a 1995 graduate of the Colorado State University (CSU) School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Peter also did his Neurology residency training at CSU between 1996-1999, and received a Master’s degree from CSU in Clinical Veterinary Science in 1999. He became ACVIM board certified in Neurology that same year, and Registered in New Zealand as a veterinary specialist in 2009.
Pete has 15 years experience working in referral practice as a board-certified neurologist and neurosurgeon and recently finished an appointment as Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine Veterinary Teaching Hospital. His special interests include spinal surgery and neuroimaging.
Dr. Carrica was born and raised in the small rural community of Grants, New Mexico. After serving several years in the United States Army and Army National Guard, he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science from Washington State University and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Oregon State University in 1999.
After practicing in Albuquerque for a short time, he joined Amigo Animal Clinic in 2000 and became an owner in 2005. He enjoys working with dogs, cats, farm animals and camelids. His special interests lie in horse dentistry, lameness and community education.
When not at work Dominic enjoys time with his wife Beryl, their three children Garrett, Anne and Jack and the family’s pets Pablo and Santiago.
