Companion Laser therapy applies amplified light to alleviate pain and inflammation your pet may be experiencing. When it interacts with damaged cells, healing is accelerated, and pain virtually eliminated.

How Companion Laser Therapy Works

The companion therapeutic laser is a special medical-grade laser used to target whatever the problem area is. To put it simply, it sends light particles deep into the injured area, which stimulates the cells to promote their growth and repair them.

Laser therapy can effectively reduce pain and inflammation associated with a variety of acute and chronic conditions, including:

Therapy Laser Risks

There are no risks with laser therapy if a trained veterinarian administers it. There are a couple of medical conditions where we do not use it. For example:

• If your pet is currently pregnant
• If your pet has a cancerous tumor growth

In the case of pregnancy, it could cause birth defects. And, in the case of cancer, it can potentially cause a tumor to grow faster.

At-Home Lasers

Some companies advertise pet lasers for use at home. But these are generally not strong enough to be helpful. Also, laser devices misused can cause eye damage or tissue damage. For these reasons, we advise against using a laser at home.

What to Expect

When you bring in your pet for laser therapy to Amigo Animal Clinic, they will not be sedated or restrained, because the procedure is very easy and usually enjoyable for them.

The treatment is generally only 5-10 minutes long per session.

Commonly, pets need multiple treatments to get the most benefit out of it. For this reason, we recommend a multi-visit treatment plan. We will recommend a plan tailored for you and your loved one when you come in.
